ABOUT

I am a long-serving and committed educationalist with an active and abiding interest in collaboration as a vehicle to personal, professional and organisational growth and development. Following an Anthropology degree at the University of Sussex, I travelled in search of collaborative communities in the Middle East and after two years living in three very different communities, ended up completing my PGCE and spending ten years as an English teacher and form tutor in two primary schools and a secondary school in Jerusalem.

After completing my Master’s in Education through Leeds University while in Israel, I returned with my partner and our young children in 2007, where I took up a role of Research Team Leader at the newly-formed government pilot of The Key for School Leaders. I later became Director of Business Development, seeing The Key develop a sister service for school governors, grow its membership to nearly 50% of schools in the country, and achieve Fast Track 100 company status in 2015.

I have worked with a number of social enterprises and charities since, including the national school-to-school collaborative network, Challenge Partners, where I was Head of Membership and the Finnish-British education organisation, Lyfta, where I was Director of Engagement. In my spare time, I have served on a number of boards, including the Bett Advisory Board, The Hope Collective Education sub-group and have been a school governor since 2008, including a 6 years as Chair of Governors at a primary school in Tottenham.

My work on equity and inclusion in schools is important to me. I am one of the co-founders and trustees of the BAMEed Network and was a member of the Racial Justice Group for Haringey Education Partnership for 5 years. I am a coach on the Anti-Racist School Award pioneered by the Centre for Race, Education and Decoloniality at Leeds Beckett University.

In January 2025 I gained a PhD from Leeds Beckett University for my work entitled Unlearning Structural Racism in a School Context.
